Does your business require our services?
Yes. All licensed businesses are legally required to have portable extinguishers safely installed within their business. How many and specific locations are based on hazards and square footage as determined by the Alberta Fire Safety Code and the City of Airdrie Fire Department.
How often should a portable fire extinguisher be checked by a licensed technician?
All portable fire extinguishers located in your business must be checked by a certified technician yearly as determined by the Alberta Fire Safety Code.
All portable fire extinguishers must be recharged every 6 years, immediately after use, or when the PSI gauge shows a poor charge. This must be completed by a certified technician in a licensed shop as determined by the Alberta Fire Safety Code.
All portable fire extinguishers must be recharged and hydro tested every 12 years by a certified technician in a licensed shop as determined by the Alberta Fire Safety Code.
How much does it cost for a yearly re-certification?
A $40.00 yearly service fee is charged.
A $10.00 fee per portable extinguisher if only recertification is required.
If recharging, hydro testing or repairs are needed, these prices will be given based on the size and type of the unit. (An approximate cost for a recharge on an ABC type 5 LB unit is $35.00, which is less than the cost of replacing it). Our company believes in reusing units when safely possible to preserve our environment.
What does the yearly service fee include?
This fee includes our mobile service being available to you for an entire year. Call us if you need any our services throughout the year and you will only be charged for the item/services required.
If you use an extinguisher and need it recharged, we will come pick up and drop off the unit to be serviced and only bill you the recharge fee.
If you need emergency exit lighting units, bulbs or batteries replaced, we will come out to verify what is required. We will only bill for what is supplied to you. Installation and our travel time are included in your yearly service fee.
